For a lot of Android users their phone is used or a majority of the things they need to do. From playing games, listening to music, going on the internet, and even fitness. Buddy Runner is an app that is aimed towards fitness, and in particular runners and joggers. The Buddy Runner app allows users to track how far they run, and the time that it took them to do so.
Once the app loads up you are taken straight to the workout menu. The workout menu has a start and end button, which allows you to start the app running, as well as end it once you have finished your run. After you have started the workout the start button then changes to a pause button, meaning that if you need a small break you can do so without it affecting your results. Also on the screen is a time button, to show you how long you have been running, a distance button, to tell you have far you have run, and a pace button, which allows you to see the pace you have been running.
Once you have finished a run it is saved into the history section. This section keeps all of your previous workouts, and allows you to view all of the stats from the workout; the date of the workout, at what time the workout started, how long it lasted, the distance, the pace, and how many calories were burnt.
There is also a map option, which can be viewed during the workout, or afterwards from the history section. This takes advantage of the phone’s GPS function, as it tracks your workout on a map, so that you can see where you travelled during the workout. The workout is tracked on the map using a blue line, which is very easy to follow, and will run automatically from the moment the workout begins. This is very good for people to look at once they have completed their workout, as it allows them to see how far the distance they travelled really was.
The apps settings allows you to get the most out of the app. The personal settings allow you to select what is the primary format of the workout screen, as well as allowing you to select whether the distance travelled is in miles or kilometres. The personal settings also allows to you enter you weight, which allows the app to calculate how many calories you have burnt during the workout. The other settings allow to select whether or not you want a sound notification for ever interval you run, which can also be selected, either for a certain distance, ranging from 5 miles down to as little as 0.1 miles, or for the amount of time you have been running, ranging from 1 minute to 20 minutes.
The app is available to download for free on the Android Market, and is a good little app for anyone who does running or wants to get into running, as it is a good way to keep track of your runs. But not only that it works well for people who want to use it for walking as well, as it allows them to keep track of the distances they have walked.
